How do I run a transaction on iOS?

  1. The app will open to the Amount screen. Enter a subtotal. The use of a decimal point is not required. For example, if your subtotal is $14.99, you would simply enter 1499 and the decimal will be added for you. If you have tax enabled, the tax field will automatically calculate your tax based on your current location. (You can disable Location-Based tax rates and enable Fixed Rate tax from Settings.) Press Next in the upper right.
  2. Connect your card reader. A dialogue box will appear and ask if the card reader is connected. Ensure that your card reader is fully inserted into its port and tap Yes. A message should appear briefly that the card reader is connecting. This process should not take any longer than a few moments. If the card reader is connected, ‘Swipe card’ will appear towards the upper left, replacing the card number field.
  3. Swipe the card. (Alternatively, key in credit card information.) If swiping a card, the card type and the last four digits of the card number will show, otherwise you will see the whole card number.
  4. Fill in any other fields you wish. (See CVV code and iOS). For additional fields, tap More in the upper right. To return to the transaction screen, tap Info in the upper left corner.
  5. Tap Signature. On this screen you can view the total and your business’s name. If the total appears incorrect, you can return to the previous screen by tapping Cancel in the upper left corner.
  6. Have your customer sign for the transaction with their finger or a stylus, then tap Done in the upper right.
  7. Verify that the information in the transaction is correct and tap Charge $X.XX where $X.XX is the amount of your transaction. Before tapping Charge, you can have your customer re-sign if you wish by tapping the small icon of a pen on the left side just beneath the Description field.
  8. The app will show that the transaction is processing, followed by a green checkmark and the message ‘Approved’ with the amount of the transaction. Tap either View Receipt to print or email the receipt or New Transaction to create a new transaction.
